I had really just picked up on my knitting when Christmas rolled around. I was enjoying it, and wanted to 'share the joy' so I knit my 5 yr old son a scarf. He didn't think much of it until this year when he was at school.
I used the same kind of yarn for this as I did the toddler poncho. Lion Brand Homespun. Last year he really liked green too. This year yellow is the favored color.
I believe I cast on 10 stitches, and just knit to length. There is a dropped stitch, which has created a nice size hole in the hidden portion of the scarf. It's almost big enough to pull the other side through and keep it snug, but it's a bit too low for that.

ToddlerPoncho
Here is the toddler poncho I made for my daughter Kate. The pattern was in the knittinghelp.com forums. It's plain knit stitch, co 32 stitches, and knit until 18 inches.
Make two of these, then sew them together to form the poncho. It was very simple, and would have knit up very quickly, if I were a fast knitter.
It fits very well, and it's quite soft. She especially likes that she doesn't have to wait on me to take it off for her, she can just whip it over her head.

Ravelry
yay! I got my invite!! I'm so excited. Except, Flickr sucks. I hate flickr. I'm looking forward to other options for sharing my photos.
I taught myself how to crochet this weekend, so maybe I'll get somewhere with that, and I can let the knitting lay low for a while. Though, I did finally figure out the purl stitch. I just need to test it out w/ a different yarn.
I had some x-rays done this afternoon on my hands and knees. The knee pain has been on going since I was about 15, the hand pain is new. No telling what's going on. I'm not worried, but I want to make sure that I don't need to worry.
anyway, lunch is done, peace

Let it begin!
Well, we are preparing to move out of state! The company my husband works for is moving us to South Carolina! I'm quite excited to go, we'll be near both the beach and the mountains which is something we have both said would be ideal.
He starts there on 12-17, and the kids and I will spend most of Christmas break out there with him. I'm excited to get this 'mini vacation' even though there won't be much time for vacationing! We'll be 'house hunting' most of the trip (except Christmas eve and day of course).
I'm a little wary of the actual trip there, we'll be leaving shortly after dinner so the kids can sleep, and I should arrive before midnight. Jack will be attending the after school program that day so that I can get a good nap with Kate. I just hope all the sleeping in the van won't mean they're wide awake after we arrive, because I'm going to want to go straight to sleep!
I'm already planning out things that I'll need to have in the van as far as entertainment and snacks for sanity purposes. I plan to leave in the early afternoon on the return trip, so they will end up being awake most of the time. Should be a blast, but the sooner we can get back into the school routine the better.
I'm going to miss dh so much though. Hopefully I can get everything done at home quickly and the house will be sold before the end of the school year. As much as I would love Jack to finish Kindergarten in the same class, it may not happen, and I'm ok with that so long as we're together as a family.
We're going to look for a storage option as soon as possible so that when I make trips there we can take as much stuff to store as possible, making the actual move a little less stressful. Hopefully mentally as well as financially.
Not much in the way of Holiday plans here yet, except spending Christmas as a family. I'm knitting a little bit, Jack said he wants a new scarf. I'm knitting a friends daughter a poncho like the one I did for Kate. And since dh isn't a fan of the knitted items I'll probably sew a pair of pants for him if I can find some soft flannel in a color he would wear. Oh, and I hope to knit the hat for me w/ the pretty sock yarn I got from hyena cart a few months ago. I finally found the right size circular needles. I need to ask Grandma if she has the size double pointed needles that I need for it. I don't really want to try to track them down! It took me a few weeks to find the right C.needles.
Anyway, this is long enough, so I guess I'll end it.

Clothing tags
I hate clothing tags. Especially the ones on the waist bands of my jeans.
Why?
Because they all itch or poke me unless I've got my shirt tucked in. And lets face it, some shirts either don't tuck or aren't ment ot be tucked.
no to mention is's a pain the ass to tuck it back in every.single.time. you use the bathroom.
So last night I too my seem ripper and ripped out two tags from one of my favorite pair of jeans. Then, the ones I put on this morning, are irritating my skin as well, which means it'll have to come out too. Grr.
