First up, some of the beautiful artwork from my son. This one was for his father.

And this one was for me. Both are hanging in our kitchen, proudly displayed. he did such a wonderful job on these.
And here we have a baby robin our cat tried to catch one night. We got to her (cat) and him (bird) just in time. He was unharmed but stunned. So we took him in the house, in this crate, and put a towel over it, in our tub. He made a little noise every now and then.
When he wouldn't eat from mine or the hubby's hand or from anything else we tried. Nor was he drinking anything. We decided we should probably let him go. Thankfully, he was about 2 weeks old, fully featherd, and able to fly short distances (ie all around our bathroom looking for an escape route, leaving berry juice stained foot prints everywhere!!!

This was just before we let him go. We'd waited about half an hour, him covered in the box, making his noises, waiting for his mama and papa. They kept getting close, and he'd quiet down and they'd leave again. And I'm sure the box and towel were throwing them off. Finally, papa landed close by, and mama right by the box, and tried to get at him to feed him. So, when they flew off again, hubby removed the towel. And he fluttered out, then about 5 feet over to the bottom of our neighbors fence, then up into a tree.
No, I know, you can't see him, and unfortunately i couldn't get the editor to cooperate so I could point to him. But he's up on one of the branches, and it only took another 5 minutes for him to be fed by both parents. He stayed there for nearly an hour, being fed every 10 minutes or so, after 2 back to back feedings. Then he flew off to roost I guess. Hubby saw him a couple days later with his parents, it was the three of them, and another baby. The other baby sounded just a little different than 'ours'. So, it was really neat! He's the first rescue attempt to survive. Most have had cat bites or scratches, and only one other has been a 'fallen' bird. But even that one was pretty badly injured. At least we could take away from them that we'd tried to help them, and possibly made their last hours more comfortable. Ok, that's what I hope. That's all for now. School is out, so hopefully we'll have more interesting things to blog about soon! I got a new memory card, but have yet to manage to get my (upgraded) computer to decided to import said photos. So, we'll see what happens next.
